Hey there! I’m Joanna Whyte, a family and couples photographer based in Edmonton, Alberta. I earned my Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria, but after moving to Alberta 13 years ago, photography completely stole my heart. Since 2015 I have spent photographing large weddings and loved capturing big emotions and unforgettable love stories. These days, I’ve stepped back from larger scale weddings to focus on what truly lights me up: family and couples sessions AND elopements/intimate weddings; all filled with genuine connection, laughter, and real moments.
I grew up in Kelowna, BC, and while the Okanagan will always feel like home, I’ve fallen in love with Alberta’s wide-open spaces and hidden gems. I’m always scouting new locations and love delivering timeless, heartfelt images you’ll treasure for years to come. My style is a mix of artistic and documentary, natural, relaxed, and full of feeling. I’m fun, a little loud, adventurous, and always laughing, and I love when my clients feel like friends from the very first hello. I pour my heart into every session and truly believe photographs are a luxury that preserve memories for generations.
When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me traveling with my family, biking, hiking, discovering new coffee shops, or making any excuse to get back to BC.
